Former patient gives back.

Having been a former patient of Special Kids, Kristen decided that she wanted to give back in a special way.  She chose to organize a coin drive at her school to raise funds and went the extra mile by coordinating a supply drive at a local pageant. Through her efforts Kristen helped to raise $235.86 in coins and over 50 needed items off of the wish list for the kids.

The Rich Family

Sharing the joy.

The Rich family is an amazing blessing to Special Kids. With their son James Ray in our nursing program, the Rich’s have gone above and beyond to serve all of James Ray’s friends in nursing. In 2014, they raised $2,875 through restaurant spirit days and other fundraising efforts to help children at Special Kids continue receiving services. When asked, the Rich family will tell you their only aspiration is to share the joy God has given them through the ministry Special Kids has offered to James Ray.

The dream becomes reality.

After almost 20 years of dreaming, former Special Kids board member, Dan Decker, decided to leave everything behind and take on the Appalachian Trail.  Decker would say his five-month trek across the Appalachians was certainly a leap of faith and that he could rely on no one else but Christ.  As if 2,168 miles were not a challenge enough, Decker decided to do the hike in honor of Special Kids and fundraised $3,305 for the kids.

 Combined forces for GOOD.

Ruby & James have two very special moms, Lindsey Fournier and Amy Ayer. Together Fournier and Ayer combined forces to form Team James & Ruby’s Big Adventures to walk and run in the Special Kids Race. The duo wrote letters and held a hair cutting event at local salon, Rain Tree. Together, they raised over $35,000 in 2014 to make a lasting impact for so many at Special Kids.
